Default how much more money for 300 bhp

was having a chat the other day , its quite normal and not mega money to get an escort turbo up to 230 bhp, BUT how much more is needed to be spent to gain the extra 70 to make it 300 ??

and is it WORTH it in the long run......

You sure you want 300bhp in an RST??? It's not that much fun, just buy an Evo and have THE ultimate car ever, job done.

To answer the original question....

Correctly specd Engine & Turbo.

Management, Mapping, Major Headwork, Cams[oops Im thinking ZT again] Cam [blinkered off] , Steel Bottom End, Clutch & Box that are man enough.

Im sure there is loads more, to easy to forget.

Is it worth it?.....that all depends on how Passionate you are about your RST.

It could be said why spend ^^^^^ £5kplus easy & the rest when you could have a Subaru, Pulsar GTiR etc etc for modification money.

That's convinced me to have a 300bhp RST. Scooby

To be honest though after not driving my Escort for a few months and getting behind the wheel again last Saturday I was actually thinking why the Hell I wanted 250 and it's a right handfull. Fortunately a 944 driver helped remind me why I built it

I still think that a nice S[enter 1 or 2] 2 if your not a homo with a decent IC cam and Chip with a decent setup.
Value for money and for the fun factor is best stage to have your RST at!

****disclaimer I've nothing against Homo's S1's are gay though ****

Not to be pedantic but you were right the first time....although the 8v engines [CVH/ZVH] only have 1 camshaft they still have multiple CAMS.

Whereas the ZT has camshaftS

No I haven't got anything better to do with my time

If you were talking 16V then you could save yourself a whack of ££'s as I notice from your sig your in the states atm.

You could have yourself a pukka bottom end by using the Blacktop engine thats used in the 2.0 Focus out there & here in the UK. Source the Rods, Pistons when you are out there, to lower the compression, so its ready to take decent boost.

The Blacktop will cost you a bit of extra cash in the UK but is a far superior engine than the earlier 2.0ZT 16v's.

You would see 300bhp without having to touch the head( bonus )
You would still be talking about Management.
Can use EFI inlet & RST manifolds with adaption.
T34 would be ideal.

I supose it all depends whether you want to carry out the work yourself or have a UK tuner spec things for you, but IMO you could walk away with a 300bhp engine with the potential for a whole load more, whilst keeping costs lowish.

i dont want 300 bhp in an escort , im just asking , to see what comes up.......

evos are so much money to buy, money i dont have....

how much is a well restored and tuned escort? a LOT less than an evo.

why people go on about old threads always amazes me....

You havnt got a clue have you

You come on here and slate the fastest RST ever then wonder why people bring up old quotes about you

A decent restored and tuned escort as you like to put it would cost the same if not more than an EVO

Are you thinking of doing this to your van

t28, i know your going to defend with all your words the might of the escort turbo, ive had 4 and i do like them they are great fun cars , and i respect anyone for thier dedication to their cars, BUT at the same time , if i had the money to make my van as fast as an evo , i still wouldnt , im happy with my meagre 200 bhp ,and for all that extra money , just for 100 more bhp, and relaibility issues .....its just not worth it, imo .

i would much rather buy a car thats won trophys in rally sports and is known to be very fast even in standard form ,unlike the escort, I know escorts are popular and i also know they are getting harder and harder to come by , at least a good one, also i would like to say sorry to the guy that owns the evo beater , for slating his car, the point i was trying to make was that any car can beat anyother car , it all comes down to money , and what car you like driving.and YES the escort in the video is flapping rapid, and would eat mine for brekky

hi m8

sorry i have'nt been on here fro a while,if you want to keep the escort turbo manifold then you need to go for a turbo with a t3 flange which is a standard size on all the range of garret turbos, just make sure you purchase one which matches your spec.

thanks
