I've a 92 4x4 Cosworth. I removed the turbo heatshield yesterday to clean the turbo up and on looking further down and covering what I think are the engine mounts is something that looks like a dome and I was wondering if this is another heat shield. It looks to me like it needs replacing. I think I found it on microcat but on enquiring Ford dont sell them anymore. Can anyone tell me whether it is a heatshield and whether anyone else has had a problem with it. has anyone relplaced it with something else or does it matter if its removed ?
Just to describe a bit better where it is its on the drivers side under the turbo and is next to the lower steering coupling.

Know the bit you're on about,just don't know what it's called.

 

There should be a heat shield on the engine mount to prolong the life of the rubber part and also on the back of the alternator

 

Must be the one over the engine mount. I can't believe they're no longer available.
