Default Cvh head worn near rockers help needed??? SORTED

Well ive finally got round to changing my cam in car as it was worn on number 4 lobe and had destroyed a tappet which i replaced and worked fine for a while.but ive taken all lifters, cam and rockers off and it looks like the rockers have been rubbing on the head and worn bits off it away now this aint right its got the little black spacer plates fitted on the bit you slide rocker over before putting nut on. but why would it do this is it because the cam is worn??????? any ideas as dont want put back together and it do more damage

few pics of it but not to clear..

Where its yellow is where its worn

That is an odd one mate, i take it the rocker arms were torqued down to ford spec ?, as it looks like they may have been tightened too much, although they usually pull the stud out when too tight.

Sounds daft but the studs don't move do they ?

turbo.jon: Not offensively but are you sure there is wear there, hard to see in the pics. Those bits are usually a bit of a funny angle. The rockers are usually free to float, but with all the pressure from the lifters they get pushed up onto the curved surface of the piece inside so they rock smoothly.

Have you tried taking a picture on your camera with the flash off? And using the macro function (picture of a flower)?

probably oil starvation, anything in the cvh head is prone to wear if not fed with plenty of clean oil. design fault really, if they're not looked after then the poor cam lubrication and high valve spring loads encourage pretty rapid wear. but if you've had really bad cam wear then I'd say you've probably got a bit of an oil supply problem to the head.

Ive found what prob was i had this head fitted to my fresh built engine when it lost all oil pressure and was run for about 2 mins tapping which has lost all oil in tappets which made followers rub on the head.i found this out as i fit all new bits yesterday and with no oil in lifters it was slightly rubbing but once engine ran and oil got in lifters it was all fine

thanks again everyone
