Basically it had a fault that could not be seen but once fitted it showed its ugly head and caused a bit of damage.

I will be getting in contact with Cometic direct

Tiff if theyve sold you a faulty gasket then of course between themselves and Cometic they would have to pay for the repairs

officially you should be getting recompensed by who supplied the gasket and then they claim off of cometic...

I would be looking at the person who fitted it...i can only guess it was not put on correctly.

Who fitted it????Dont say Karl either as being a gasket designer he would have seen the fault immediately if there was one

Tiff

Definatly supplier- in retail thats who the contract is made with. and the same when the retailer buys things from the manufacturer.

It should not be your responsibility to chase them- Dont be fobbed off...
If a garage owner chooses to sell car parts just because they're a garage as well doesn't mean they can tuck you up. They're still retailing.

how do you work that one out ?
you MAY find the gasket is warranted, if it fails they MAY replace the faulty item with a new one. NO ONE guarantees a head gasket , not even ford. cheers nomad

Nomad

The gasket was replaced with a Proper Mountune 4 layer WRC one and i paid the difference.
My problem is i have to sort out the damage that was caused because the gasket was faulty

i know what you mean tiff, it would be best to try the softly softly approach first with supplier then with cometic to try and get recompense, what i am saying is that they might honour the warranty on the gasket (due to fault) but might not honour any repairs due to the failure, it will be entirely at their discression, i had a problem with a ford engine part failure and ford would not even let me open the engine, if i had taken the head off my warranty would have been void, hope you get a good outcome but its not all plainsailing. cheers nomad

Phil

But what if it was found that the injector itself was faulty which caused the engine to blow????????
