drain the gearbox?

Default drain the gearbox?

is there a drainage plug on the box some where i know there is the oil filler plug but is there a drainage plug, cheers

I don't think there's a drainage plug on the box at all mate, i just took the driveshafts out to drain it. If there is i couldn't see it when i was changin my box......shite design really!

there is a plug on the front but i thought it was only used to fill it up. take the chaft oput works every time.

You can drain it quite well by unscrewing the (5th gear probably) spring loaded locking rod from the front.

my 3i has an allen bolt in it at the front. is the rs box that different?

oh yeah, just remembered, it's the other one thats the drain plug, theres a bolt just into the bottom of the gearbox that needs a really long socket on it as the bolt is a bit like a stud, it's got a long protrusion sticking out beyond the head which is obviously up against the bellhousing. think it was about 19mm?

It's not a bolt, it's the fifth gear selector locking mechanism as I just mentioned above.

I drained my fluid using that hole and a manual pump...
