Default Torque vs. bhp

Is it worth loosing 10-12 bhp to gain 20-25 nm i torque? The torque and bhp will also peak some 200rpms sooner if i choose to loose bhp to gain the nm in torque. What would you do?

Danny it all depends on what charactaristics you want from your engine, how you want it to drive, and what you will be using it for.

What are you thinking of building or having built?

its realy simple, change the original filterbox with a kn cone filter. It sounds better, but thats not why i would do it. I want more torque in low rpms, its a long way to 3000rpms when youre in 4 gear driving at 1800rpms and floor the pedal, it takes to long imo to realy go, not like my old xr3i, and it even had a 258 piper cam in it, so you can see that it wouldnt be that quick in low revs but it was, maybe my turbo is dead or something
By the way if the turbo aint broke, would it help to get a -31 actuator, and what does that thing do ecxactly?
I drive with 14psi boost by the way

A few people have chopped the front of the std air box.. it gives a bit more of bhp and torque... There was a feature in PF about it i think...

Ok, that sounds like an even better idea to me, to gain both things would ofcourse be the best
Is it "just" the front of the box or should it be drilled also, and its the normal panel filter thats in the box right?

Danny Id agree with what Mark says above cut the front off your airbox (Just the top half though) so your filter is still efective.

14psi sounds fine on the actuator you have! No reall need to change!

The actuator is used to open and close the wastegate on your turbo, 14psi would normaly sugest that your actuator has been uprated from standard and may well be a -31 anyway.

-31 actuator allows you to run higher boost as the spring inside is stronger and takes more pressure from the turbo to move it.

As andy said std actuator should be fine for 14psi, i believe most people change them when running around 17psi...
