Default 2 wd cossie using loads of oil

Only had the car about 3 weeks and have put about 3 ltrs of oil in it.(5w40) I know that they use oil but this takes the piss

when I give it a bit of stick it kicks out a fair bit of smoke

I think the valve stem seals want doing as on start up there is a bit of
blue smoke but it must be more than that

Any advice would be good

Thanks

Matt

Its a slippery subject on OIL here mat , simon at woodford always recomends Castrol RS 10-60 for a cos, peoples opinions vary matey. The smoke on boost could be down to worn piston rings or worn turbo bearings. Try the oil and see how you get on

If using a lot, I would just save up for a bit and do the lot, I have learned the hardway, as mine was burning oil from the top and bottom end, although it was running fine, so I did the head thinking it was guides, only to find only a small difference, have now ripped engine apart and am going for rebore and rings, I did find though that changing from synthetic to a valvoline 20/50 racing mineral oil reduced my consumption a lot, and its only Ł20 for 5 litres, so worked out a little cheaper.

As above, 5W40 is too thin - use a 10 or 15 grade. May still be engine/turbo wear, though.
