Default under reading SPA boost gauge

hi folks!

when mark was mapping my car he commented on the boost gauge under reading compared to what the ECU was seeing.

when the car was on the rollers at AVA i mentioned it to allan and he compared it against the boost gauge they connect for the rollers.

it under reads by exactly 7psi.

after speaking to SPA technical about this they are convinced that its not the sensor or the gauge and in fact its reading the correct pressure as they have never ever had a faulty sensor

why on earth would it read under by 7psi??

any ideas??

going to try my mates sensor to see what happens....

cheers

Weird one - I have lost most of my trust in SPA as my gauges always fuck up, they do replace then though which is half decent....

Never had a problem and been using them for like 7 years. Does it read 0psi with the engine off?

the guy said a new sensor was 50 quid plus vat !!

funny how its exactly 7 psi all the time.

held at one point on the rollers, the gauge read 19 and the rollers 26.

might remove the gauge and sensor and send it to them to check out.

yeah i have zero'd the gauge with engine off.

the At for boost is set at 0.001 which means it reads pressure constantly.

to tell you the truth the oil pressure is lower than it used to be too.
wonder if its the gauge thats at fault??

Have you calibrated the sensors to the gauge? - in the manual that comes with the gauge it show you how to do this.

This might be worth a try....

did a few runs last nite while watching the boost gauge....

its defo totally fooked.

as the boost comes in it takes forever to react.

you can hear the turbo starting to struggle (when it spikes 33 psi) and the gauges is still reading 19psi then its just seems to randomly picks numbers out as they are way too low for anything else...

it read 19,16,23,26 on one of the runs in 5th from 4k to about 5.5 k...WTF

maybe its next weeks lottery numbers

need a co pilot to check it in the lower gears

i'll be your co polit

could be posistion on inlet if too far away from the butterly ?

my boost guage reads 1psi lower acvcording to my ecu via the laptop

guage reads 15psi whern laptop sees 14.1 psi

my turbo si struggling as well, since cold waether spikes at 23 and holds 17 but it is a T25

its probs that your boost gauge under reads.

the ecu sees the actual pressure in the manifold..

the postion of the sensor shouldnt matter as the whole manifold is under the same pressure.

the map sensor is only an electronic boost gauge, and these can also mis-read, so that statement is not really true
