Default Your weight and what you can Deadlift

A post much the same as the Benching one but for Deadlifting.

I'll start weight 90kg but tall and can do 165 for 10 reps on last set of 3. Never done a 1 rep max and only been doing them from end of last year when started taking it a bit more seriously

My deadlift is dire. I'm not going to make excuses here but I don't do them and the short time I did I only got up to 160kgs for reps. Never tried a one lift max and don't like the idea of it tbh.

I weight 243lbs as of last night. (110Kgs)

This is more like it.

I'm 109kg bodyweight, 20% bodyfat though, at a guess.

270kg deadlift with straps.
240kg without.

I like doing them and the effort required. Unfortunately my body doesn't! I've just finished physio for my bad back so I have to be very careful.

A very very good exercise to have in your routine so keep on with them mate.

Not sure what I deadlift as my weights are maxed out at 82KG and can rep it for fun, but at 69KG body weight I just did a 136.6KG Army PFT static lift which I was told was very, very impressive for my size. As a guideline they give bigger lads a 116KG lift target to extend their run time for the Paras from 9:18 to 9:40.

I find it ironic that there was loads of people boasting of strength in the bench press thread however when it comes to a deadlift thread, arguably a true test of strength, hardly anyone replies!

A squat thread would have even less response i bet.

The deadlift is the king of lifts, i love it, if my body would let me i'd deadlift everyday!

You love it because your good at it. But hear what your saying.

Some of the main culprits on the bench thread are in here though.

I bet a bicep thread wopuld get more hits. Probably updated every Saturday though after the Friday night pre-pub session.

Every gym I have ever been to has always had a group of 4-5 chicken legged lads gathered around the flat bench which they take it in turns to do all night, so you can't get near it. Seems thats the normal thing to do in a gym?...

It is for this reason i do not have a set routine, as its a bit of a lottery how busy it will be and my gym is only small.

I only deadlift 80kg for a few reasons..
1 - I havent been doing them very long
2 - I want to maintain good form
3 - I dont yet have a waist belt
4 - I struggle to keep hold of the bar for reps and need to get some straps

That depends on your goals. Partial deadlifts are arguably better for actual bodybuilding. For powerlifting though, I won't disagree.

I dead lifted last night, 130kg for 10 was a walk in the park.

One rep maxed along time ago which was 190kg, i hope to be able to still do that if not more.

I weigh a tiny bit over 12 stone. (76 - 77kg)

Squating i am pretty poor at, I rep 90kg for 10 and that is me fucked, i can hardly walk!

About 70kg weight, and DL 145kg for 3. Not too bad considering only recently ventured into them for a few weeks as had a lower back injury nearly 4 years ago.

weight 73kg

can do between 2 and 4 reps of 130kg on the last set of 3, but this is with my legs slightly bent at the start with belt n straps. Will see what I can do with straight legs

A&E here I come

i should hope your legs are bent at the start

the propper way to dead lift is to sit right down into the bar with it up against your legs

then lift with your legs only to straighten your back as the bar passes your knees

straight leg dead lift is for ham strings not back

Yes, thats a deadlift.

You're probably thinking of a military or shoulder press? Clean and jerk? Who knows.
