Falling Off The Wagon...
I guess the obvious answer is too much.

I had 160kgs on the bar but its all relative I guess. I had done that weight before and had built up to it, wasn't like I tried it cold. Apparently a muscle tear can happen at a lighter weight too.

As said its all relative. We all go to the gym to get stronger and better our weights so it could happen at whatever weight you are lifting. Alot of the reports on the net say that people have done it at 60-70% of their maximum lift. I have been training on and off 15 years and its the first serious injury I have sustained. Could be old age or me just pushing myself far too much. I really don't know and therefore I dont know that if I recover I wont do it again.
Benni, how are the antibiotics working mate?
No worries on the thread hijacking. Training hasn't been effected but my gym was full of kids yesterday on all the machines so I was trying to do my chest and everything I went to go on there was about 5 kids on it talking away and messing about.
Usually by now my chest is all sensitive to touch and hurts when I tense it, but nothing. Fucking kids 'ey! Lol.

I have been advising these lads for about 3 months now. I first noticed them when they were trying to fly with 14's and I went over and told them to get the 2.5kg's out as they are only about 13. Everytime I tell them to lower the weight, they wait for me to go in the other room and get the bigger weights out again.
I've given up on them now.

Then they'll ask 'Did he do that with too much weight?' and I'll say 'No!!! I got pissed off with him not listening and twisted his arm so far behind his back his pec came off'.

I shouldn't do arm wrestling full stop because of my brittle bone, but I've had one or two in the last few weeks which is daft. I'd be sick if I snapped something so I deffo' aint doing them from now on.
As far as these kids are concerned though, I done you with an arm wrestle.

Don't arm wrestle kids! It's not worth it, voice of experience talking here!
Kieron that looks NASTY man! Although brusing is a sign of healing beginning so its probably not a bad thing. Hope it sorts itself out asap.

I read this about the flat bench, Kieron. Thought you might be interested. This is what Dorian Yates said. I've always done incline bench because my trainer said something similar when I started.
Benni.
I don't even include flat benching in my pec routine, because I think it stresses the front deltoids far too much to be an effective exercise for building the chest. Also, the angle of the flat bench press puts the pec tendons in a vulnerable position. Many torn pecs in bodybuilding have been the result of heavy flat bench presses.
Thanks for that Benni but a little too late.

If I'm honest though I would have ignored that advice as I find flat bench to be the ultimate size/strength builder for chest. Now though I don't think I have any choice but to listen as heavy flat benching is probably a thing of the past for me now.
