I dont really do weight training anymore so strength is dropping, but i will be right back on it hard when i get back from Honeymoon. I had hit the point where i just ached all day and night and didnt easily recover so decided having a month or two off was sensible for me before i did some permanent damage.
Dont get me wrong, my weight is dropping slowly but surely and i am about 96kg with a 34 waist now. A stark improvement from my 112KG as a 38 waist fat weakling who couldnt bench over 45KG 20 months ago.

Nice one Stu, there's nothing wrong with a one or two week break to recharge the body. I take a week off 3 or 4 times a year and have just had a 2 week layoff.
YOu certainly recharge your body and motivation

Ay up people....after many years of being rather under built from my height and with the recent addition of a gut (picture skinny guy with beer belly
) ive decided sommot needs to be done before its snow balls out of control
So im very new to the gym...well, new to excercise tbh and havnt really got much of an idea of what im doing in there. Any pointers/guidlines for me? Im currently going 4times a week, starting off slow (2000metres on rowing machine), working my way round a room of different machines that ive no clue to the names of
for approx 1hr then steam room for 15min before 30min in the water to cool. Not after being massivly big, just a bit better toned and with out the gut. In the past 6mnths ive cut out chocolate and crisps at work along with the workshop traditional breakfast cobs (that bits been the hardest part so far lol), and replaced it with pasta and fruit mainly....dont really wanna change too much in my diet this early on incase it ends up getting me down with boredom, if you know what I mean? Also cut my mate Stella down to around 4 pints a week
Stu.
EDIT: WHAT A TIT...SORRY...SOME HOW MANAGED TO POST MY TOPIC IN THIS TOPIC

sadly i have put on over a stone of weight due to a back injury that stopped my gym/boxing and martial arts training dead, about 4 months ago. I am looking through this topic for teh inspiration to get back on it now and this missing picture is it.

Spindles at the Norbreck Castle. I hope to start back there, gently, tomorrow.
Will try two weeks at the gym with no stupid deadlifts or squats then if all is well i plan to get back into Krav, Kick and Karate again as soon s possible, but i need to take care, 4 months of pain has made me realise i am old and frail now.

Stu you did really well mate , dont let a little injury put you off , it's so easy to make excuses mate i should know , start back slowly , you wont be up to doing what you did previously straight away and that's the biggest hurdle to get over mentally , stick at it mate
.
my journey is not complete either , i lost 6 stone in 8 months , training every day , dojo , running etc ..i graded in July passed with flying colors , then relaxed back a little and put 1 stone back on , it's so bloody easy , i am now in the process of shifting it again , and have come to the conclusion that sadly this is a life style change that i will have to maintain for the rest of my life , as i am one of those people who sadly puts weight on just looking at the fine things in life .

Mr Barber my black belt buddy. You are, as you well know, one of the reasons i even got to start martial arts in the first place and the memory of not having seen you for 6 months and you then turning up all lean and mean looking has just motivated me back to the gym. Im going to don my kit and go there right now. Thanks.

I'm back on it now... i have the need to get back in shape even with my poxy glass back, so now I am building my own gym with all the gear in it that I personally need to use. I'm drained of spending 50% of my time at the gym In a Queue or chatting shit to some draindog who cant see I'm busy and wants to talk to me about fooking cars or some bint with her rack out.

I wish there were bints in my gym with their racks out! ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
I think the gym is addictive and once its in your system you will keep going back through your life. Hopefully things will come together quicker than it did before for you.

I dont think I could train by myself at home - would find it hard to get properly motivated....made lots of mates in the gym too and got a great training partner that is as committed as me, so its good to go to the gym & be able have the odd occasional chat with different people to make it a bit more social, makes it less of a chore if you know what I mean!!
Good luck with it tho Stu!

One of the good things too is my best mate is my training partner, so we both spare eachother on and kick eachothers asses into gear if we start to slack.
I would NEVER of started the gym properly if it wasn't for my best mate.

Well, luckily for me I have always trained alone because I'm a miserable sod who cant be arsed chatting when I'm trying to train so hopefully a change of venue to my garage will make no odds. Will pop pics up of what ive done over the weekend all being well.

Also, Ive just finished it with a nice adjustable bench which has allowed me to do some more training movements without adding too much excess strain to my lower back damaged areas.
