Easy enough to change, can be a pig to bleed though and car won't start if there's trapped air in the system! Personally, if it's your daily car I'd do the rest of the service and have someone else do the filter for the sake of half hour labour, their problem when it won't start then

light has prob come on due to low fuel pressure, have you hand primed the filter?

There easy enough to do on these engines. Like said above when I change fuel filters I put some smelly diesel in the filters.

As said, if you prime it using the hand primer that's near the bulkhead on top of the engine BEFORE trying to start it, you should have no problems, if you haven't primed it before starting it, then yes you can have problems as you've filled the whole system with air.
