mk1 fiesta suspension
hello
im currentley restoring a 950cc povvy spec mk1 fiesta for my first car, and i need help deciding on what parts to get for the supension.
i want the car lowered 40mm but i want the handling improved at the same time. i think ive decided against coilovers because of the price of them so they can wait until i change the engine.
im going to get polybushes all round (firm up the ride slightley and last longer) and an adjustable xr2 panhard rod but i dont know what shocks and springs to get. People have recommended mk2 xr2 shocks all round with 40mm lowering springs but i dont see why you should use mk2 shocks (anyone explain why? )
The car will more than likely be driven all the time so i dont want suspension thats completley rock solid, but i dont want the car wallowing around neither.
what shocks and springs shall i look for and what sort of money are they?
ive looked on demontweeks and fiestacentre but they dont seem to have much for them
any idea appreciated cheers

PassionFord Post Whore!!
don't fit mk2 shocks on the front as i think they give too much negative camber as the mk2 has a wider front track.
in my opinion i'd be looking towards koni or g-max set of springs and shocks. and fit a rear anti-roll bar & good quality tyres. Poly bushes make a huge difference and well worth doing.
hope this helps.

are you on the mk1 fiesta website, loads of really good build threads
tbh poly bushes and a decent set of springs and new shocks will be stiff enough, if its the original engine you wont need over the top suspension. just stiff enough but still comfortable
save money on coilovers and maybe buy an anti roll bar kit or bigger tie bars etc
