Default Fan wont turn off

The fan on my 07 zetec s wouldnt turn off after turning the engine off, i've checked the oil, water and the thermostat which are all fine. the only way i manage to get the fan off was by disconnecting my battery.
Can anybody tell me whats the problem and how to fix it?

Sounds like its shorting out somewhere. Look for damaged wires.

Or try unpluging your fan switch and see if that works. Its a plug on your radiator.

On older cars, nowadays they are controlled via the ECU.

It may well be the relay has jammed, as I imagine when the ignition is switched off the fans should as well.

Do they start again when you reconnect the battery?

It's the fan relay in the fusebox near the battery. Common fault.

Should tell you in the owners manual which it is.
