Wheel offset question
Hi all,
New here and after some help.
Recently put some Puma wheels on my Fiesta as a friend was getting rid.
Looked at them and they have an offset of 34. Put them on and they seem to "stick out" more than other Fiesta alloys but they are still in the arches and do not rub or anything.
Well my question is will this lower offset do any long term damage/is dangerous.
There is some tyre hum from the front but I am taking that to be tread wear patterns (I put new tyres on the rear)
Any help would be great.

Great, thanks so much, been searching around the internet for ages and there is loads of conflicting advice about them hitting the arches etc. I have not gone wider or bigger in circumference or anything but some people say you should not go under 38 so was worried that I was 4mm under that!
Not true. You should stick as close to the standard offset as you can. Lower offset wheels will stick out more, put extra strain on the wheel bearings and will affect the handling, making it bump steer quite a bit more.
Brilliant, back to being confused!
Does that mean I will be chewing through bearings then?
Ok so I have 2 options, keep the Puma alloys which look better or take the wheels to a tyre fitter and swap off the new tyres that I bought from the alloys to the steels.
Each one is going to cost me money!!

I get where richie is coming from but unless your running silly power or way oversized wheels I have found it improves handling a fair bit, I recently changed the wheels on my zs to lower offset but not going silly like french offset, I really enjoy the way it handles now
