My fiesta zetecs has developed an intermittant tapping noise at idle and on over-run, seems to be from the cambelt cover area... Its done 106k and is well overdue a cambelt, so could it be a tensioner or waterpump etc? Just serviced it 2-3k ago, full service oil/plugs etc...

what pahase is it 1 or 2 could be the bottom end being ready to let go. mine does this now puma powered

 

i had this with mine, turned out to be 2 failed cam follewers...

 

Mines done 107 and after a bit of a lead foot moment it now taps really bad massive loss of power and struggles to stay alive I'm not sure what it is any ideas my first thought was bottom end if so is this easy fix or new engine jobby please help

 

If bottom end it's a new engine. Piece of piss to change though.
