Default Filler Cap Jammed

Got to the petrol station late last night to find I could not get the filler cap off.

Its an Si (mk3.5) the key is turning 1/4 but its not unlocking.

Any ideas?

squirt some wd40 in the barrel and try it.

AS above. Pull the flap back and squirt some WD40 in and let it soak a little before getting the key back in and giving it a wiggle

Yeah tried that earlier.

Had to go plan B with screw driver and hammer.

Barrel was total rusted.

Be a pain in the arse having two keys now though

Get a lock set then. Only £75. Did a set on my mums 2i last Summer

a single lock is over £30!

Would a breakers sell a lock set?

My Drivers side lock doesnt work but the alarm does that so havent really worried about it TBH.

Why bother with worn second hand set when a brand new set is so cheap and there is no risk of any spare keys floating about

You can always take the pins out of the lock barrel and put it back together in the cap. so your key will still open it. but this also means that anyone can open it. but then when does a thief wanna nick you fuel. he would have to be very desperate.

I dont ussually skimp on fixing but I have had so much going wrong with it

Puncture, valve gasket, spark plugs, clutch cable in the last 13 days

My mate done it on this P100 since the same thing happened on that. or just buy a new cap for about £10. it isn't that hard having to use another key.

i finished friday at my breakers,
but we charged £20 for a lock set

.ignition
.both doors
.boot
.and fuel cap

If your getting a new cap from ford they can build you a petrol cap barrel to your existing key number . mine was £7 extra
