the engine will physically fit but you need the WHOLE loom from the focus as everything is interlinked with the control bus!

as for gearbox, its not going to be impossible but a linkage would have to be made and then custom driveshafts as the linkage is cable opperated on the focus as well as being 6 speed and then the splines on the diff are also different so the shafts physically wont fit into it!

this has been talked about on www.zsoc.com and a lot of people have said that the focus St170 lump is a good upgrade from the zetec block but it is apparently not all that tunable. not sure if they are correct on that one, depends if your mate wants to tune the st lump or not.

Engine in yes but I would think there would be some/loads of problems in dropping the gearbox in. Would also think that thanks to the PATS system you would need all the ECU's etc from the same car.

In all honesty you may be better going with a 2.0 Zetec and tuning it as the ST170 engines are likely to fetch a premium wheras a a normal 2l can be had for next to nothing. The cash saved between the two engines could free more pennies for go faster bits

I've made over 3500 posts on ZSOC.com and I've never seen one single thread concluding that it's a good idea.

It's a massive pain in the ass
