Default gear linkages

This has probally been discussed before but having just brought my beast I'm needing to find a way of curing the rubbish gear change. It's like an eel in a bucket. The car is a 1989 xr2 track car with a fiesta turbo engine and lsd box. Is there an alternative to a B&M quick shift?

im developing one for my demo car, im extending the bottom of the selector by around 40mm, this will give a short shift effect and make the gearchange more knotchy & crisp. I will put a post up once it is done with the results

Rally designs do one for the escort which I have had 2 of, they are brill, work better than a b&m as there is no vibrations and they cost £50!!!!

its their design which ive got my ideas from

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply do you need to replace the springs and sliders inside the housing to make it work or does the kit provide for their replacement.

new springs and sliders will make it feel new again.
dunno why they say they are no longer available, i have 2 kits in the shed, 1 to fit 1 for spare and i got them last year, i even got a kit for my xr2 (1985 model) so you should still be able to get them for the mk3.
but i have found some dealers say they cant get the bits but others can, might be the fact the dearler cant be arsed?? if you get stuck getting some, there are kits on ebay but there a little more expensive than ford
