Hi,

I purchased a Ford lockset a month or so ago to replace the locks on my Fiesta. I replaced all locks myself, except for the boot lock and the fuel cap lock.

I was left with one lock spare, which I imagined was either for my fuel cap or the boot. So I disassembled the boot locking mechanism and it became obvious (to my knowledge) that this spare lock wasn't the boot lock replacement.

I can now only guess that the spare lock is for my fuel cap. I tried disassembling my fuel cap but I couldn't see a way of doing it.

So, would you agree with me that this lock is for the fuel cap?

Any help appreciated

 

yeah looks like it to me, not sure my self how to strip the fuel cap? i think i have a old one in the shed so i can have a look, might need the key to do it in which case i haven't got the key to the old one.

didnt know you could dismantle a fuel lock

must be the only thing, as its defo not a door lock, defo not ignition and defo not boot

so the petrol cap is the only 1 left.....

on the mk3 fiesta, take the cap off, lock & remove key, put it face down on a table, push the sprung loaded plastic part (below the circlip) down, & remove circlip. the lock should then push out from the rear.

 

Definately fuel cap lock mate
