Edz,
You brave, brave man !!! I bought NUV six years ago, just after my 18th birthday, with an exuberence of youth. The car was MOT'd for a year but if that wasn't dodgy then J-Lo's arse isn't fat !!! I paid over the odds for it and it had more holes than a piece of Dutch cheese but still it was my pride and joy and i owned the car for a year and a bit. During this time i clocked up about ten thusand miles or so and when it came to MOT time again my Dad spent the best part of a week welding bits in here'n'there. Replacement floorpans, and bulkhead sections were order of the day though they weren't done properly; more to get some ticket on so i could sell it. After strying to sell it privately i eventually chopped it in for an Orion 1600E from a trader in Croydon who gave me a very reasonable Ł900 quid for it. I subsequently saw the car advertised in the Auto Trader in the Hastings area; was this you selling it or where you bought it from ???
A couple of years ago Tony Fuller said that somebody had bought the car and sent him details (i guess that was you) and he also said that the person in question was going to restore it. I thought exactly what i said to you; brave man !!! It's brilliant to hear that the car is getting sorted as i've got a lot of fond memories of the car and would love to see it again plus it's good to see another one saved. With just 250 Graphite RS1600i's made we've got to keep as many alive as possible!!! Get some pics up if you can mate or better still how would you feel about doing an article for Rallye News concerning it's restoration ???
Good luck and well done for saving NUV ...... i can't wait to see it !!!

I bought it from the bloke in Hastings for not a lot, I was sold on the colour and the history. Ive seen a lot more rotten. It was driven for a week and its been in a garage since.
Grey is the best colour.
Your Dad's welding is gone along with the other dodgy repairs. Its all been done to try and make it look at orginal as possible new panels where possible rather than patching it up.
I will get some photos sorted soon.
Its not going be a show car its going be driven.

front panel, wings, crossmember, inner/outer sills, rear panel and repair sections in bulkhead , rear arch and floor . All original spot welds measured, panel lips remade where needed etc etc. Its going to be converted to the later top mounts as well (so I can buy new ones in 10 years time).
It would have been ready this year but shit happened. This is now getting 100% attention (girlfriend loves me )
Its still not been painted yet so its a multi-coloured mess thats why im not keen on photos just yet...
