I've recently bought a mk4 xr3i,its the efi version it was bought as a non runner. Anyway stripped the head off last night to find a broken valve and badly damaged piston, also the valve seat on cylinder head is damaged. Been looking on ebay for a engine, Can only find a mfi engines. other than the injection system and that the mfi uses cam for dizzy is there any other difference between the engines??????

 

A crankshaft position sensor is fittted to the efi ,
Mfi does not have the hole in the block for the sensor,
also the head on Mfi has round inlet ports,
