Hi all,
I heard that K&N filters can contaminate the MAF sensor although K&N are rubbishing this..So having hesitation issues and sooty plugs so decided to check the air filter and discovered it was fitted flip side up in the cover of the filter housing instead of sitting fin side down in the housing.Surely this would cause an airflow issue.?
Any advice is good.

What car? What filter? Cone filter or panel filter? They will contaminate the maf if they are over oiled after cleaning.

Its a mk5 zetec 1.8 XR3i panel type filter.
It was facing the wrong way up into the lid of the housing.
