Changing Mk5b Tailgate
hi lads....hope someone can give me a steer on changing a tailgate on my 94 xr3i which is rotten on the left corner. The Haynes manual makes it sound like a 10 minute job but I thinks it's a bit more involved. I'm assuming I will need to pull the loom (with string attached) back through the tailgate aperture and out the top of the tailgate above the glass. All the wires in the loom have connectors attached for lights...central locking...wiper etc. I can't see them coming back through the aperture up the side of the glass. Do all the wires need to be removed from the connectors....am I missing something obvious???...be great to get some advice from someone who has done this job before.

It is fiddly getting the loom through if you pull it out from the back if that makes any sense lol I.e. Disconnect it from the main loom and pull those connections through the hole in the boot lid and probably put a separate piece of string on the cable for the rear demister otherwise the that one is a pain in the arse.
