Default weird electrical problems with headlights

ok so recently my main beam has stopped working , high beam works only on the left side, side lights and low beam both work and all rear lights work , only weird thing is that the central locking stops working when the main beams stop, ive checked fuses and earths, ive swapped relays around to see if that would change things, light bulbs and put in a new battery, nothing, but then as randomly as it stops working I can be driving along and they will all start working again for a day or so then stop again, I have no idea what im supposed to do, I cant keep driving using low beams and fogs at night , im stuck and getting desperate for help

have had someone mention that it could be either the fuse box or stalk switches

stalks are well known to cause many issues but unusual for central locking faults to arise from stalks no doubt why paul suspects fuse box

As above, fuse boxes and stalks were common. Don't know if it's still the case, but, from memory of working at Ford, there were quite a few different boxes and you had to get the Ford part number off it to get the right one. The stalk obviously differ with the wiper functions, that used to catch a few out, was amazing the amount of customers couldn't remember if they had variable wipe?!
