My Escort MK3 RS1600i Ignition Computer seems to have developed a fault and I'm looking for a replacement unit. Can anyone help?

If anyone has a Computer Unit I could borrow so I could confirm my problem, I'd be very grateful to just have it for a day or two, I know this is asking a lot, but I'd love to get my RS back on the road again. I'm 99% sure the computer is my problem but it would be most helpful to me to know for definate.

I'm in Beccles, Suffolk. That's near Lowestoft, about 10 miles away, in from the coast.

Do you have one you would be willing to sell or are suggesting you might be able to loan one for me to try. Either way that would be great.

I'm not going to the RS show, a few years ago I use to go to such things. We've got two young children and it's hard work taking them to a show like that, maybe in a few years time.

Hi Mark, i would be happy to loan one to you to try if you was nearer or we could do it at a show, but the last one i lent to someone,..........well lets just say 3 years ago & still waiting to get it back!LOL So im happy to lend one but only if we can meet or show etc,
I can sell you one if you want £70.00 or i can give you the name & number of a guy that can repair them for £100 , but you do get a 3 month warranty.

That's great, I'll buy one off you. I'm an electronics engineer myself and found three chip faults on my unit, that's why I'm fairly sure it's the computer that's at fault and there must be more than that blown. I'll probably end up repairing mine but for now I just want to get the car on the road asap. Having a good unit to compare my broken one with will be handy in repairing the old one.
