This is my first post so be gentle!

I own an E reg Escort Cab, with RS Turbo bodykit, standard 1.6i.

I want more power! Im just wondering what are my options, and what the best thing to go for is. I know a small amount about engines (my dads a mechanic, owns a workshop). I would like so start with a good base, that will give me plenty of angle in the future to upgrade and tune, (a cosworth?). Are there any limitations onto what engine will fit, and will any modifying need to be done to fit it?

What type of engine should i go for, what will give me good power increase to begin with, and plenty of upgrade options in the future? What should i be looking to spend for the engine, and whats good to go for and good to steer clear off?

Also, if any one has any links to begineers guide to things like turbos, engine types etc etc that would be great.

Easiest way to get big power potential is to transplant a Rs Turbo engine. Up to 250bhp realistically depending on how much money you want to throw at it. But apprx 180-200 bhp should be fairly easy to achieve with out spending too much.

Just as a reference, what sort of bhp am i at now, just standard engine?

And, how much should i be looking to spend for an rs turbo engine? If i wanted to go even more and go for a cosworth, would i have any fitting problems?
