Default PREP work?

IF i havent done the whole "prep" before waxing my car etc.

What is the most simple way of doing this to have a go?

I realise there are a million steps using certain products, yet others offer a nice simple three step style of prep/polish/wax?

a basic prep would be something like wash, clay, polish with something like super resin polish, wax.

i've got the megs 3 stage as my car aint great so doesnt need the special treatment. last time i washed it using car mit and 2 bucket method (cheap turtlewax shampoo) TWICE and i still got shit loads of crud come out the paint with the megs paint cleaner!!

felt silky smooth after too even though it was last clayed and done properly 20 months ago!!

then a couple coats of polish and a couple coats of wax.

then for the next few months or so you can wash and go over with a quick detailer thats friendly to the wax you applied.

it is good stuff and i like it but i'm not a propper bufty.

proper anal buftys will be going for dodo juice as a bare min i would have thought and be getting million times better results than me. mind they;d also be using machines too!

imo it depends what you want. if you just want something to keep ontop of the light swirl marks and protect it but not spend a fortune on uber good stuff then get the megs and possibly put 4 or 5 coats of wax on to help it last a little longer and use quick detailer (that wont strip it off) after you wash the car. if you want to go full paint correction and mirror perfect finish then your gonna be forking out for some equipment and dearer cutting compounds and polishes.

detailing world may be a better place to look for opinions on the mgs stuff though as a few may have tested it against other stuff.

yeah im no bufty myself and never intend to be, i like to look after my car though where i can and have it looking good without being ANAL over it though!

So the megs stuff is probably what im after, i can always get a tub of dodojuice wax to apply i guess or just give the dodojuice lime and prime and then suitable wax a little go.. that seems a simple three stage (wash/prep/wax) method!

yep, you would use a paint cleanser after polishing, but not after super resin polish as it would remove the fillers it leaves to mask swirls. super resin cleanses a little anyway

basically, super resin polish is an all in one product (it'll cleanse the paint, fill light swirls and add a little protection). paint cleansers are exactly that, you can get some with light abrassives in them to remove light swirls, as well as non abrassive ones that cleanse only

we were on about a paint cleaner though.

stage 1 of the megs is a paint cleaner, then polish, then wax.

i think your best bet is to go on detailing world, see what some of those guys are doing as a staged thing and then see how much the products are.

good luck in your qwest

aware of that, thanks - see my previous post about not using a cleanser after a polish like super resin as it will remove the fillers it leaves behind to mask light swirls. not a seperate cleanser is needed with SRP anyway..
