Default Merguias 3 step system

i used all 3 steps tonight cleaning my car. the paint cleaner (stage1) seemed to bring out lots of swirls marks but it did look cleaner. i used the polish (stage2) which took absolutely ages to come up and buff out . i gave up with it in the end and put the wax (stage3) on over the left overs of the polish and worked fine. is there an easier way to get the polish off. i gave each step 30 mins to dry on too. i used that thick soft wool mitt type of thing to buff the applications off.

you have probably used to much of the polish if you are finding it hard to remove, a little will go a long way by hand!

to tell if the polish/wax is ready to remove, flick your little finger across the polsih, (not nail side!) and if it removes it easily, then you are ready, if it smears or does not all come of, it has not cured yet!

I found it real hard to buff up too, I got fed up like you and just wacked some wax over the top and buffed that up a treat and it seemed to have cured the problem, I found auto gylm better for buffing off!

This is the second time I've recommended the following today (the other on Detailing World).

Rather than go with the Megs 3 step system, you'll get far better and WAY longer lasting results by going with a base layer of Autoglym Super Res (use it 'properly' though ), followed by 2 layers of any of the Collinite waxes (467s, 845 or 915).

Still 3 stages to do exactly the same, but so much better results, and the last 'wax' one of the megs system is quite well known for being one of the least durable carnauba based waxes around, so I figure for the same amount of effort you might as well be using something decent that's going to last, and the Collinite waxes are the daddies when it comes durability.

Another alternative after the AG Super Res is Finish Kare's 1000p high temp wax (which is a sealant really, not a natural wax). Getting some rave reviews across the detailing community.
