As above will work better done by machine
Just to show what can be achieved here is a golf i did that was pretty far gone over the whole car

This was one of the very first cars i had done and was pretty pleased with the outcome, as was the owner.
Was done using the megs G220 Dual Action machine with sonus polishes and pads, First sfx-1 then 2 then 3 with matching pads each time.
Once outside you can see the colour better

Blimey, that was a bad one, wasn't it!!?? Great work there and a really good example shot to show how paintwork, even as deteriorated as that can be brought back from the 'dead'. To those uninitiated with what's possible, they might even have considered that a candiate for a respray. Top job

The owner is one of the guys i work with and his neighbours would not believe it had not been painted, still looks good now even after a year with very little maintainance.

That was done using Sonus SFX-1, 2 and 3 Polishes with the matching SFX-1, 2 and 3 pads and about 9hrs graft.
There are better polishes for this sort of job but this was done when i was new to machine polishing and only had the Sonus stuff

Buy all my stuff from there, great fast service every time, and a hand written thank you

How much would that kind of job cost to do, Gav Diamond?
Im guessing the 9 hours to do is a right ball ache, so inconvenience would whack the price up?
Or could something like this really be achieved with shop bought products?

If you are talking about painted plastics then yes you can get the colour restored but you have to be more careful as plastic does not disipate heat the way that a metal panel does and it is very easy to wrinkle the paint on plastics.
most decent dual action polishers are expensive.
you can get cheap rotary's but then can cost more than they save if you dont no what your doing. heat is the main issue with rotary's, you end up with strike through or burning the topcoat

This is the cheapest Dual Action about as far as i know, although everyone that sells these is out of stock at the moment.
Rotarys are cheaper, but heavier and harder to master if you have never used one before, plus the damage they can do if used badly is alarming.
Mind you, judging by the buffer trails and holograms that come out of most bodyshops, it seems the "pros" aint too clever with them either!!

The nack is, buy a decent machine, do your research on the likes of detailing world, and have a go.
Whilst the G220 has proved itself as being a more than capable machine performane wise, its reliability record is appalling! If you knew the number of members on Detailing World who have had theirs go tits up and had to send it back you'd never buy one. We had a fairly long period not so long ago where there was a new case of one breaking being posted up almost every day.
They addressed some of the issues with the revised second generation machine but I'm still reading about people having problems with theirs.
The Kestrel DAS-6 seems to be fairing much better with its reliability.
There are cheaper DA alternatives though as well, you just have to think outside the box a little and away from things that have a detailing brand name on them

Not a massive fan off T-cut as it needs to be used carefully so as not so leave marking to the paint. Do not use excessive pressure.
If you have this and want to use it though do a panel at a time and then go over the panel again using Autoglym Super resin polish and worked well should give the results you are after.
Finish off with a wax of your choice.
I would have offered to help you as Wales is a nice drive (went Abersywth (spelling) before christmas, you deffinatly got some nice driving roads) but got a Rolling road shoot-out this weekend.
