another shout for elite or polished bliss. both companies very helpfull and great service. be sure to get a flexible backing plate as well. if just using the roatry go for the 3m pads with the 3m polishes or lake and country ccs. not cheap but then you get what you pay for with pads. trust me i go through tonnes of them. they get used several times per week if you know where i'm coming from

i'd suggest getting one cutting pad, one light cut pad and 2 finishing pads. reason for this is the finishing pads tend to clog quite quickly. get hold of a nice soft tooth brush too. when the pad starts to clog, run the tooth brush over the face of the pad. this will take out the excess polish. one thing to note is less is more when polishing. i'm putting together a few guides for another site. i'll pm them to you if you want. or have a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk for hints and tips such as seasoning the pads - makes a huge difference. hth.

got a whole host of pads too. welcome to try them before you buy

for a starter rotary, you won't go far wrong with the silverline. as said on another post, get yourself a scrap pannel. will only cost you about a tenner but could save you fortunes.

When I bought my Silverline I did a lot of research into machine polishing because I didn't want to fuck up.
I never got a scrap panel either, just dived straight into wet sanding then polishing it up.
My research led me to Rubbish Boys and the Mark V Mystique compound, polish and glaze. It gets very good reviews on detailing world so I bought some along with a selection of pads and a backing disc and all I can say is WOW. It's very easy and forgiving to use and does a brilliant job.
You can also buy starter kits from them although the wool pad with the M14 insert needs a spacer to stop the thread of the Silverline poking to far through.

always always always get a scrap panel to practise on before going anywhere near a car. £10 from the local scrappies or £ks worth for a respray to repair the damage you may cause.

There are countless products out there and to a cerain extent it comes down to what you get on with. i personally like the 3m or lake and country pads. polish of preference for me is the menzerna range.
