Default autoglym super resin turning to powder

I have been using super resin polish for years with no problems but recently when buffing it off its turning into white powder.

Its so bad now that you have to wash the car after you have polished it...

whats causing it?

different polishes just take different amounts of work. Whenever I have had a polish go powdery its always heat, they seem to dry before they polish

Yep its the heat mate. Ive been having problems with AG and residue too recently. Just polish a panel at a time instead.

i have my own valeting/smart repairs business and from a trade point of view you absolutely will not beat autoglym, the same as i said in the glass polish post, use a sponge to put your super resin on and turn it over afte you've done maybe 3 sq ft and wipe your polish once with the fresh side of the sponge, this will massively reduce the amount of dust.

also, full autoglym trade and retail ranges available for cheapness, pm for details

To get the best from SRP it should be worked untill the polish residue goes clear, not just wiped over the car then buffed off. The most important thing with this or any polish is to remember "less is more" a little bit goes a long way.

Yes thats exactly right mate. Thats why the sponges are so good. Its suprising how much further your polish will go using a damp sponge. Theres alot more to polishing than some people think. Technique is everything.

most polishes only dust when their lubricating properties are used up ie worked to long into the paint or temperatures getting too hot and drying it up

sponges are ok but please remember that they are made of closed cell foam which will keep any particle held close to the paintwork and can cause scratches (if you drop your applicator on the floor put it to one side and use another one even if it looks clean it will not be)
if you an get some meguires applicators from halfrauds at a pinch or some proper sonus microfibre applicators from ebay or else do a search for them as they ar inexpensive and wil do the job

thanks dave

I had to polish it Kev as it gets covered in the sticky stuff that they spray on the rear tyres while on rollers.

The fan blows it all over the car and polishing is the only way to get it off.

yep have to agree, I used AG products in 1998 when concoursing and then it was the best. AG seem to have lost there way, they are producing the same products as a decade ago and I would say the name is keeping them. Use Meguires GOLD or poorboys and you won't look back. It goes on and doesn't go dry you buff it off and NO dust at all and it gives it a wet look even better than AG resin and AG Extra Gloss together. I have 10 litres of autoglym suer resin in the loft and won't ever use again.

AG is pap.

Make sure you are turning your polishing cloth every panel or so. This is also reduce the powder. Autoglym was great back in the day but haven't moved forward. Megs knocked them off that perch and now there's many more.
