Tech wax Vs Gold Class
Tech wax is a wax, which contains some cleaning/sealing properties, but it's not as effective as individual products. It's okay if you're in a hurry.
Gold Class wax is just a finishing wax, although better alternatives are available.

Protection should really be provided by a paint sealant such as Autoglym Extra gloss protection, or Poorboys EX (solid colours) EX-P (colours with flake)
You should be using your wax as a finishing product.. your wax will give you protection but it really there to give tou water retardation and reflection.
On your car it use Poorboys EX-P sealant followd by some Poorboys, nattys paste wax, P21S Concours wax or some Harly wax...
These will all work very well
Hope that helps

Hey Paul,
I have a black car and this is my favorite product line up.
Clay the car if necessary, use megs quick clay as this is super easy to use and quite mild.
Then i use the following products.
Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Autoglym Ultra deep shine (you can use either of these, you dont need both, the SRP has more cut and no very little fillers)
Clearkote red moose glaze
Then i use Poorboys EX-P cos my car is a pearl with alot of flake, as yours is just solid black id use Poorboys EX or Autoglym extra gloss protection.
Then my favorite for black is Poorboys nattys blue, but Pinnacle souveran is also awesome on black.
This little lot should leave that black 3 door with a shine so deep you could swim in it
Hope that helps

TPaul - as Frayz has said, you have a colour that will look great correctly prepared.
If the paint is marred or swirled in any way it will require machine correction.
If you're working by hand, clay the car with the Meg's clay. Then use Clearkote Vanilla Moose Glaze (actually a polish) or AG Ultra Deep Shine or Supreme, as these will be the best polishes to use.
The Clearkote Red Moose Glaze will then richen the finish, as it's a true glaze, oil based product. Apply thinly and evenly.
This is not weather proof, so it will need to be sealed, PB EX or AG EGP are fine for this task.
Finish with Natty's Blue, or specifically for black, Soveran.

Your Tech Wax is okay, as a quick, multistep product, but you'll get a better result from individual stage products.
Consider the PB's EX-P, followed with P21s Concours wax, as Frayz said.
Or, the EGP followed by the P21s.
These products will only give a good result is the paint has been correctly prepared beforehand, so take care over your polishing stage, and make sure the paintwork is as you want it.

Hi Frayz and Gaz
Got mixed up last night half asleep i think.
Am i right in saying this should be my plan
Megs clay bar
followed by nxt (as i have 3/4 of a bottle left )
followed by Clerakote red moose glaze
Then poorboys ex
Then poorboys natty blue or pinnacle souveran.
Or should i use as Gaz has said the red moose glaze to replace the nxt?
Or just use the nxt up then drop that and just use the red moose?
Also I think i will go for the nattys blue as the suoveran is a lot more expensive and im on a tight budget.
But saying that is the souveran that much better ?
Also Guys what rags do you use. I have one microfiber meg's cloth so far but there about Ł9 a go so i know i need a few more. What is the best one for a decent price as ideally i would like to get another 5 or 6.
Sorry for all the questions but want to make sure i have it right before i part with the hard earned.
Thanks for alll the help guys

Tpaul,
When you say, NXT i assume you mean tech wax? if so this shhould not be used at all in your process.
After the clay you want to be using a mild polish with a light cut such as AG SRP or Clearkot vanilla moose glaze. Then follow with RMG, EX-P and Nattys.
The Souveran is great especially for black cars but i know you'll be more than happy with the Nattys. I use Nattys myself and love it.. not only the finish but wait till you smell it.. bubblegum..mmmmm
As for rags, these are a big no no.
You want to be using all Microfibres, Use microfibre work towels/or applicators for putting on polish or products with cut.
Then you want to be using the small Meguiars style foam applicators for putting on glazes, sealants and waxes.
All of these should be uffed off using only megga plush microfibre cloths.
If you want to PM me Gaz and can supply you these now
Hope that helps

Paul - you should not be using tech wax in your process - it doesn't fit in well with the other products you are using. Your process should be:
Megs clay
AG SRP or Clearkote VMG
RMG
EXP
Natty's or Pinnacle.
If you're on a budget, then Natty's will be fine, don't worry about spending the extra on Pinnacle. I use Natty's on my own car. Don't worry about all the questions, me and Frayz don't mind at all
Like you said - it's better to be certain before parting with your money!

If you drop it, throw it staright away and buy another.
If you keep your car well protected and well waxed/sealed etc claying should only need to be done once every 6 months at worst. Depends on how much you use the car really mate and if its garaged etc :d
Hope that helps
Frayz
Lamb Chops;
Yes mate, i second what Frayz said above. When we detail brand new cars, they require a clay, so chances are, even with fresh paint, you'll need this stage. It guarantees that you have a nice finish to start working on, and all the products you use after this stage will work to the best of their capacity. If you're concerned, you can use lots of lubricant, and just use gentle pressure on the clay - you won't do any harm.
As Frayz said, clay bars are sensitive. If you do drop it, please don't be tempted to keep going - sods law will dictate that you'll drop a brand new bar, but if you do, it must go in the bin...
If the car is garaged, and you don't do a lot of miles, you won't need to clay more than every 6 months, probably less. If you park outside, live near industry, or do lots of miles, you'll need to clay more. Keeping the sealant and wax topped up helps protect the paint in the meantime.
HTH mate,
Gareth

Hello! I've only just joined here, so Hi to all!
I've been using Tech wax for the last few months, and have to say that I find it the best wax I've used so far. It did help me win my first two concours comps too
I'm loving this concours section, loads of good stuff
