No time to do a test tonight. Tomorrow maybe.

But I'm running a P4 2.8 (Prescott core) overclocked to 3.2 with a big fook off heatsink and fan. Aircon needed in the summer
FSB is overclocked to 916MHz with dual channel memory.

ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition.

Thrush - Its a program that measures a PC's 'Gaming' performance.

It does this by running stress tests that push a PC's hardware to its limits. 3D Mark runs numourous graphical tests, that utilise all of a GFX cards features then gives you a score or 'mark' at the end.

The higher the number, the better your PC

Oh, and yes, it crashed in a big way.. roflol

Need to play with ram timings i think, the processor seems ok at 4.0ghz and that cooler kept her below 45deg C but the ram clocked over to 440 wasnt playingh ball at 2-2-25, may have to try 4-4-4-8 tonight.. see what i can get away with. unchballs:

Old drivers and standard clocks:
X2 3800+ @ 2GHz, GeForce 7800GT @ 438/1000MHz, 2GB ram @ 200MHz 2.5-3-2-6

I'm going to bench more this week because the X2 does 2.5GHz easily and the GT 480/1200MHz, and the ram 250MHz @ 2.5-3-2-6.
And the newest drivers should give me a couple of hundred points more.
I'm hoping to break 5k.

specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Scythe Ninja) - Asus A8N-SLI Premium - Gainward GeForce 7800GT (Arctic Cooling NvSilencer 5 rev3) - 2x 1GB Corsair 3200C2 - WD Raptor - WD Caviar RE2 - Antec TruePower 2.0 550W - Dell 2405FPW

Stu,

The thermal paste should make quite a bit of differance. I put some on my AMD chip before butting the heatsink and fan on Is that fan to go on the chipset ??

Yeah, already using paste on the processor, its a necessity with a P4.

The blue heatsink is for the chipset, the big fan and sink is for the 6800GT and the small heatsinks are for the 6800GT's ram.

Thermal paste isn't an option!!! Its a requirement

Arctic Silver 5 is my prefered choice

I have one of those Zalman GPU coolers already, you won't be dissapointed Stu. It dropped my GFX card temps by 40C on load

And I have one of those blue Zalman chipset coolers aswell, but it won't fit this motherboard because the giant GFX card cooler is in the way

3D Mark 2001 - 25532 Marks

3D Mark 2003 - 12563 Marks

3D Mark 2005 - 6308 Marks

3D Mark 2006 - 2088 Marks

Aquamark 3 - 72038

I bought an X800 Pro VIVO mate, second hand.

These early cards unlock to 16 pixel pipes when flashed with a different BIOS.

I flashed it with a X800 XT Platinum Edition BIOS and the standard cooler did NOT like the extra clock speeds

I was seeing 90C+ when benchmarking and playing intense games.

I fitted that cooler and I rarely see past 50C, and I can't hear it!

Next on the list will be a decent cooler for my CPU, its running the stock AMD rubbish at the moment, everytime I start doing anything other than browsing I wake the rest of the house up because it speeds up and sounds like a jet engine
