Most Corsair chips I've seen for sale have been quite high latency-ratings (CL4 or 5), although they do sell CL3, which I'd just about accept...

Not had any experience with Kingston, so can't really comment...

My next memory will be 2GB of OCZ Platinum, hyper-low latency......quite a lot of memory listed on here.

Yeah i know that i can have 3 gig ram in total just meant could i have like-

1 x elixir 512 ddr400 pc3200
and
2x corsair 512 ddr400 pc3200
(making 1.5 gig ram)
???

or

1x elixir 512 ddr400 pc3200
2x elixir 1gb ddr400 pc3200

or would it have to be-

3x elixir 512 ddr400 pc3200

Not sure if you can mix and match makes and gig sizes that what i mean?

I think, you have to stick with the sizes m8 2 x 512 or 3 x 1024 etc, etc
