Default TV picture quality

I want to run my pc through my tv,
I have connected via a video out lead and I have got picture but the quality is realy poor, Ive tried changing settings but this has no effect
I'm using windows xp, with an ATI 9550 grafix card.(ATI catalyst control centre)

Can anybody out there give me some advice on what to do

I don't think you can get really good quality picture on a TV anyway. Something to do with not being able to produce the same res. I think . Are games playable but some/most text is unreadable?

Don't bother m8, TV cannot handle as good a resolution as your PC Monitor. Max resolution you can run will be 800x600

My mate runs his through his tv get quality picture?
He does have a flat screen tv and a Sony Vaio, could this be making a difference?
I would ask him, but he just pays someone to install it and wouldn't know how it all works

flat screen TVs usually connect via RGB, or DVI so will have near on PC Monitor quality. Normal TVs rely on SVideo out which is good, but wont match a PC monitors native connections.
