Default Internet troubles

For the past couple of years, not always every day, but upon turning my laptop on, the internet only comes up as Local access. The only way I've been able to get around this is go downstairs and reset the router, you'd of thought I'd of gotten sick of this a long time ago

Have you got any bright ideas as to why it does this?

And how do I go about changing the channel mate?

I've changed the channel and it seems to be going okay for now.

With sky you can log into the router from any computer connected to it and change settings. Might be worth having a google to see if its possible on PlusNet.

You need to go into the router setup page (usually something like 192.168.1.1

I'm with Plusnet and I used to get this. I have now gone to Fibre Optic with Plusnet and so far its been good. My speeds have gone from 3-4mb to 30mb all for a fiver a month extra. worth it. I can now watch internet on my tv without it buffering all the time.

Nothing to do with the WI-FI coverage!

What that means is (You have either Vista or 7 btw, more likely 7 I should think) it means what it says, i.e. your PC can't see the outside world, i.e. the internet and only the LAN, when working this should say "Local and Internet"

In other words, your router is loosing it's connection to your ISP and by resetting you are resolving this issue, it maybe your provider only has a short "DHCP lease", hence after x number of days or hours it drops the connection.
