Default p.c keeps crashing

hi, my p.c keeps crashing, the screen goes blank and the only way to get it working again is to switch it off at the mains then back on

anyone got any ideas? cheers kev

could be a few things, something thats installed causing probs, 1 thing 2 check thou is the fan on the heatsink, sometimes these get clogged up causing the CPU too overheat and do ths same thing!!

ive not installed anything for months so dont think its that, could be the fan, ill have to check it out

normall if it's the fan, your screen will just freeze as the CPU is over heated


defienlty software if the cpu fan is working ok

all fans seem to be workin, ive left the cover off the tower and it hasnt crashed for days

get a new fan then.



also check in cmos to see what temp the cpu is running at

I would say you have a possibly overheating problem. In which case. to resolve this, 1) Buy a new CPU fan (preferably one that is more powerful then your cpu), 2) buy a couple of extractor fans to get rid of some of the heat
