Default cpu @ 100%??

My laptop last night decided to slow right down and CPU was running at 100%?

I only had one browser window open, on one tab. I have run a virus scan, used Ccleaner, done a defrag, and when i came to work this morning I left it in the process of doing a Malwarebytes full scan

Does anyone know why this would happen, as you can imagine when its at 100% you can't do anything on the bloody thing without it taking 100 years!

What process was causing it to run at 100%?

Could be windows updates, could be AV update, could even be a scheduled scan.

So if you run task manager, click on the CPU column system idle is running 99% then?

If not, which one is?

My old lap top did this after browsing loads of porn. Ran scans/cleaners and never managed to fix it fully. It used to run red hot as well.

ive also had another issue start up on it, where its saying the "consider replacing the battery" and a red cross over the battery, without being plugged in it barely lasts half hour! This started suddenly, i googled it and it seems its a windows 7 fault, and not actually a faulty battery! just gotta put up with it until they come up with a fix!
