avast is useless
on my spare old machine i tested the top 5 free anti virus by surfing a few dodgy sites which all ways give you virus.

only free anti virus that stopped them all was AVG
also i have been using a free firewall called online armour for the last few months.... its ace even better than zonealarm

you say you can hear random music and talking in the background when you have the sound on, are your speakers aftermarket items?

Speakers are built using electromagnets. The frequencies produced cause the magnets to attract the radio frequencies and produce them back, to combat this turn up the volume on the speakers then it should stop. Then simply turn down the sound within windows, job done
