So mine has just decided to switch itself off after being on for 5 mins , the red light on the front is just flashing , ive left it for about an hour to see if that worked . No luck there either !!!!!!!!!!!!! And its a few months out of its warrenty


So who else has had a ps3 thats gone wrong? And what did you do etc etc about getting it fixed as im not gong to be happy paying for it as it cost me near on £500

 

one of the lads at work has just had a disk read fault sony told the shop to replace it strait away

Oh and to top it off the video chain i bought it from "chioces" went bust 3 months ago,every store closed

 

Call Sony. Regardless of the warranty period it's not proved to be reliable and is defective, and should be repaired. No-one expects something to only last as long as its warranty. Ask them what they're willing to do about it for that reason.

 

Mine did this after i did an update online,died on its arse. Just phone sony tell them you just did the update now its dead blah blah....i got a 60gb sent straight out by courier..Mine was well out of warranty. This was only about a month ago matey.

Nah mate saves all your settings, just set it back up with sony and i got all my friends and rankings back...

 

Backed all mine up on a USB drive when it went tits up.

Sony will replace as said above.

Well i rang sony today at 10am, after being on the phone for half hour all there willing to do is send me out a new 60gb ps3 BUT its a refurb one, so basicly im getting a 2nd hand ps3 on thursday ,ones thats faulty already ...................NOT BLOODY HAPPY oh and to top it off i lose all my saved games data and the disc whats in there (c.o.d.4) i have to wait 28 days for them to post it back!!!!!!!!!

 

When you get it back phone sony, they will get all your online stuff back and all your friends ect..

Ive just rang them again to complain saying the 60gb are shit "thats why you have stopped making them. there answer was ermmmmmm yeah !!! so ive told them i want a new 80gb version, and if they dont sort it i will take my ps3 to the sony store in lakeside and stick it round one of there heads , the supervisor is calling me back

Yeah mine was a recon, i had the same argument over the phone with them, i paid £450 iirc, and why am i getting a recon one got told really thats the option that i had, recon, or nothing, in all fairness it looks brand new...

 

mine went the same as Mr Broadside's and also got a recon which to be fair has lasted longer than the orginal ps3 and it looks brand new as they say they replace all the casing

 

So we aint the only one's then??

They never called me back like they said they would, all they keep saying is im going to lose all my data , so fuck em im going to take the hardrive out and they cant have it back without it

you forget Dave, Sony UK does not deal with 60GB PS3's any more so you will get a refurb one, your one will be repaired & then used as a Refurbed unit. My friend has thad his 60GB replaced with a refurbed unit. the 80gb is just a 40GB with a 80GB hard Drive, the 60 is better mate.

Relax Dave.....you could with a few days of COD tbh, it will do you good

Well last night i went and picked my new one up from the parceline depot, just set it up and ITS NOT WORKING , wont let me go online and it keeps freezing : angry:

Yeah had to do the 4 hour reset ,then tavenn88 called up, with all his settings, in the end i had to swith the live box off and turn it on again so it paired up, works now my nowhere near as smooth on screen as the old machine

 

what you been pairing up dave? what settings did you change? and whats this 4 hour reset you mentioned? sorry for all the questions

 

Go to the main menu, then go to settings

Then scroll down to system settings
then go to restore ps3 - they said that my ps3 has most prob be dropped or sometihng via parceline, when you go to restore it sorts all the faults out .BUT it takes 4 hours

 

oh right... sounds like a right ballache

 

That proper sucks man I'd be well pissed if Sony replaced my new unit with a refurb'd one, i'd have to take it apart and check the internals out though
