Default Windows Data/ File Recovery ?

Using Vista Basic atm so I went upgrade to Home Premium by using an anytime update disc. Don’t ask how but I seem to have just reinstalled Windows Vista Basic back over the top? That is fine not, but what has pi55ed me right off is that its wiped all my old folders of videos and pics etc. Like 5 yrs worth from prev h/ds saved!! I’ve since installed premium and that works ok
So does anyone know for any proven utilities/ programs that could reinstate my old picture files n videos or are they deffo gone for good?

you won't actually need any fancy software all you'll need to do is copy your files back from your backup. Becuase anyone with 5 years of photo's and documents will have a backup from somepoint, right? And anyone with any common sense would back everything up before re-installing and OS, right?

Anyway on a more helpful note there is softawre out there that should be able to recover most of your lost data. I have a really good piece of software but I can't remember the name at the moment and I'm at work and the software is at home. I'm sure its a piece of seagate software.

Quick search of the net and I found this, it might be the same as I have, there's a free trial so def worth a shot. If you have no joy with this drop me a PM and i'll have a look for the CD for you.

If only. Sorry me and pcs dont go to well as shown
I thought the pc had a auto backup as it has a recovery drive when I brought it, but it seems my data is not on there. As for wanting to re install that was deffo not my intention.

Many thanks for that link as that does seem to show my old files. I just need to work out how it works and if its telling me the files are recoverable or not?

Vista strikes again, junk it and put XP back on

Use Davory, Ontrack, Acronis, Zero Assumption etc for file recovery
