Laptop fan

The fan on my laptop is usually on very low and quiet until you're doing something that takes up alot of thinking time then it speeds up, now its just fast most of the time and its doing my head in

Can I slow it down? or is it likely to be a program thats running in the background thats using memory, hence it being quick all the time?

Has this happened gradually?

It might be worth giving it a good blow through to get rid of dust. The fan is probably having to work harder to keep it cool.

The fan will come on as the system get's hot, if there is dust and crap in it as said above then it's working twice as hard to cool it down, chop your radiator fan in half and see what effect that has on ya water temps

thanks, I do tend to give it a blow (ooh err) every now and then, but it does seem to get hot quite easy, even without using too many things at once, some of the time wasting online games that get posted make it shut down because it gets too hot
