i need to find out my ethernet address. i know vaguely what it is now but the instructions on how to find it out are crap!

can anyone shed any light?

Oh no, not you again. Not having much luck with anything at the mo eh?

Anyway, how are you connecting to your network?
If just cable out back, go to msdos window and type 'ping (+any address)', this will tell you how fast it is going and your addy to boot.

yeh im full of trouble at the mo!

its just a cable out the back and its on broadband. on the sheet i have it says to use msdos if on windows 95! will it still work on XP? and really stupid question - how do i get on the msdos window?

I use win98 havent used xp in about 2 years. I know its there as well, just cant remember where. Why do you need it?

need to register my connection to the net as im using the university network in my room. think they had a few problems with viruses last year. & they just like to be a pain in my ass!

Go to start -> run and type 'cmd'

Then type 'ipconfig /all' without the quotes and all the information you need is displayed including your current IP address and physical address which is also known as your MAC address and probably what they want.
