For the comp people!
A friend has a laptop...Toshiba i belive which runs windows 98 or around that. They have the windows media player from that time.
I have XP and have burnt some of the movies from my comp onto disc.
I tried to play it on the laptop, the media player opens and plays but there is only sound and no picture...The picture is fine on my newer version..
Any ideas?
Can i copy my media player to disc and install it on their laptop so they can see the movies?
All help is mucho appreciated!

For codecs, I've found a program called AVICodec to be quite useful......you can find it through Google.
Once installed, load the video-clip into AVICodec, and it'll tell you which video & audio clip is needed to play the clip, and also gives you links to download them both, if required.

Sounds like codec's

After that there are some other sites offering free codec's but beware most now have spyware packaged into it

The reason it dont play on the older version is because yours has updated files and his cant support them. Iether u go to the old one, or he goes to new one and u shoulnt have a problem, alternatively, copy it using some other burning software, as a mpg or mwv then both players will be able to read it..... i think
Anyway, theres my help for the day

Windows 98 comes with media player 6, if you are running windows 98 second edition or higher then you can install windows media player 9. If not, then 7 is the highest you can go.
