If I have a few files of 700 ish mb but in different formats, can I put them on the same DVD?
or can I even put multiple files of the SAME format onto one DVD?
And more importantly how?
All the burning tools are far to complicated, I canna figure it oot captain

Matt - get hold of a copy of Nero - it is SO easy to use!
As for multiple and different file types - what do you want to do with the disc? Is it to play in a DVD player (as video) or to play in a computer, or just for storage?
Cos putting different file types on a DVD is no problem - you can just make a DATA disc and write any file you like to the DVD - the only limitation is the capacity of the disc!
But unless your DVD player decodes formats other than normal DVD filetypes (VTS and VOB files) then video won't play in the DVD player...

I've got one of those DVD players that will play owt, Divx/Xvid, MPEG and AVI etc...
I have some DVD-RW's so instead of wasting one film to one CD I thought I'd put 3 or 4 on one DVD-RW and then format it when I've watched em

Matt - thats what I do..... As for file types - most DivX/Xvid films are AVI format, and many DVD players will play these nowadays. Mpeg's not so much, unless in VCD/SVCD or KVCD format, and very few play WMV's...
How do you go about burning and watching an MPEG film? Just burn it as a data CD or do you have to burn it as a video CD?

havent tried one yet as most are AVI, although I've got a bin/cue file waiting to be burnt when I sort some proper burning software. at the minute I'm just dragging and dropping the files that will fit on a CD-RW and watching them, but I have a few that are over the 800mb size hence the DVD question.

My DVD player will play DVD's (obviously
) and AVI's (standard AVI and most DivX + XviD versions) and VCD's (VCD/SVCD/KVCD)
KVCD's generally come in BIN/CUE format and the BIN part is basically an MPEG strain with the CUE being it's "playlist" which contains the info for chapters etc. I burn these to CD using Nero Express, and use the DISC IMAGE bit. You can't burn a BIN/CUE KVCD to DVD tho
However, I have burnt some BIN/CUE KVCD's that are over 700mb to a 700mb disc - don't ask me how, I just did
But due to the way DVD's creat file structure, it simply doesn't work on them - only on CD-R or CD-RW.....
AVI's/DivX/Xvid's I just burn as a data disc and the DVD player is equipeed with the decoders to play the file as video....

The version of Nero that came with my PC wont let me burn multiple files to one disc, it wont let me burn a data DVD either and if I select an AVI film to put on the DVD it tries to convert it to DVD which ends up wanting to be over 4gb, FFS how hard can it be putting files on a bastard disc?
You should be able to create either a dvd or a cd iso image ?

Now, you can try downloading Nero off www.nero.com and installing it, hoping it will upgrade your current version, or, add me to MSN and i'll transfer across one

No it wont let me do anything like the above screen shots.
Thanks for the offer Dan but I dont use MSN so that would be a bit difficult
I'll try your suggestion of the Nero site and seeing if it updates anything, failing that I will have a look and see if I can find a version on Torrents
Cheers again mate, no doubt I'll be back on here in a bit with more head banging
