in my experience the Livebox is a right pain in the shitter.
whatever you do, DONT call the tech people as they are about as useful as a fart in a space suit.

Ive got the Livebox, and it gets updated with new functions every month by orange. Its been faultless. Have You got a wireless card in your PC?
Also If you wanna connect the livebox to your PC via Cable, either Use the Network Cables Supplied (RJ45) or the USB Cable.

Yep you can use an ethernet cable (should be provided) to make a wired connection.
But as said above it was a pain in the arse for me, like sometimes it would stay connect for a whole day and other times it would keep cutting off and the lights on the front would be flashing like the blackpool eluminations
Try it and see how you get on, different pc, different hardware, different software, so you might have better luck than me

i cant remember what lights do what but i know there should be about 2 lights that are constantly on, if anything is flashing then generally something is wrong.
Look in the manual it tells you what each light means

You can go into the Router Software and shut the wireless off, so nobody can pick it up.
As for the 0870 number try this

But yeah just shut it off if you don't need it.
The @ light is the most important that tells you that you have a broadband signal and its working, then you need to have the signal icon solid red(one at the top i think?) i dont think the fast forward light was on mine, not sure what that is
Are you actually on the net with it now though?
