I think you have to ring bt up and get them to open certain ports on the router to allow you to get the 360 online, I'm not sure, my m8 had to ring them up to get limewire working

Give your Xbox a static IP and set it up as the DMZ host

When when you go into a router, you have two networks - the external one (i.e., the Internet) and your internal network (your computer, your router, your xbox etc). If Xbox Live wants to send data to your Xbox, it has to rely on the router to figure out where to forward the traffic to. This is where Network Address Translation, or NAT, comes into play.

By putting your machine as the default DMZ host, you have a fallback - if the router doesn't know where to send the data (which can happen for a number of reasons), it sends it to the DMZ host. By default, this is the router - so if it doesn't know where to send the data, it basically eats it.

BT do not open ports on the router it has a IP address stamped on the bottom of it which allows you to log onto it through a web browser, here you can open any ports you require.

I setup xboxs as I stated with a static IP and can set the MTU in your router settings... the ip address for the router should be on the bottom of it... you can bring up the configuration by typing this in a web browser ( example http://192.168.0.1 )...the username and password should be on the bottom of the router also if it has not been changed
Xbox Live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364. If your console does not pass this test, you cannot sign in to Xbox Live.
If you have multiple consoles that are connected by using the same connection, you may cause a failed MTU tests. A failed MTU test may also be caused by sharing the connection with a computer.

Im assuming that you have a WindowsXP pc connected to this router when I say the following

if you go to 'run' and type 'cmd' the command prompt windows (black box) should then show.
in this window type 'ipconfig' this should then list your network configuration... the ip address for your default gateway should be displayed.

This is your router ip address, type this into your browser ( ie http://192.168.0.1 ) you should then be prompted for the password, the default user is usually 'admin' or 'user' and the password 'password'

you should then be able to see your router configuration
