Seen screenshots and it looks very nice but its still in beta stage which means theres bugs, thats why i havent tried it because knowing my luck something will go tits up

download the RC1 version from Microsoft. It is much quicker than the Beta 2 and the install is also quicker.

I have downloaded the .iso vista file, which is 2.52 GB
and have burnt it to a DVD+R, but it wont ask me to install, and when i try to boot from the disc, it says boot disk error/failure

The easiest way without ruining an existing machine is to create a virtual session using VMWare and run it inside that. Using NAT'd addressing, it can use your existing internet connection inside the virtual session so you can get drivers, software all the usual stuff.
