Default i'd like to watch my pc on my tv....

hello dudes...

i've got a recent packard bell with media centre on it and i quite fancy watching some of the movies on it through my tv.

tv is a recentish widescreen panasonic 28" crt

the computer have a tv card... but this only has an aerial connection on it - for recording tv...

on the video card it has the normal vga monitor plug and what looks like a s vhs round plug next to it ?? is this likely to be s vhs.. its not labeled...

the tv has 2 scart sockets... can i just get a s vhs to scart lead - or is that far to simple... would i need to change the screen resolution / scan rate.... would the computer show on both the monitor and the tv...

or do i need something else....

cheers !

Rob.

As far as I know chap, you just need the S-VHS to SCART lead to connect it up. As for how it will appear on the screen I don't actually know as I have never done it! I do have a gfx card with an S-VHS socket on it, but never actually used it (the card I mean).... Gotta be worth a shot tho eh? Only a few quid for a lead

Hi Dan

sound has always come straight out of the computer in to my amp so thats still ok.

the kit did come with an audio lead but i haven't used it.

tried the desktop again today - terrible i do get a slightly better picture using the svhs socket than the scart socket - shame its on the front of the tv

watching movies is dvd quality on either socket

Odd that the desktop should be poo but the vids should be fine tho..... SVHS is always better than scart where poss - like you said tho, annoying having a lead on the front of the TV!!!! I would be interested to see what the difference would be using a scart>s-vhs adapter like this tho;

Or s that what you were doing?

If the pic quality is noticibly different on the direct S-VHS input (on the front) rather than the scart or scart adapter, then I would say your TV probably doesn't have RGB scarts, but rather the more common "euro scart" plugs......
